A mechanic will appear in court about a coworker's fatal elevator fall.

A mechanic who was involved in the 2021 elevator accident that killed his Mount Eden coworker is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

According to police, Peter Milatz, 67, has been accused of criminally negligent homicide due to his disregard for safety protocols.

Joseph Rosa, a 25-year-old coworker of Milatz, was crushed to death.

In February 2021, Rosa descended an elevator shaft on East Clarke Place and plummeted six stories.
