Edwin Capone is hired as head football coach for Cheverus, Maine

The well-known individual is being contacted by Cheverus High School to be their next head football coach.

The Stags announced on Friday afternoon that Edwin “Skip” Capone will take over as the team’s next head football coach.

“We are ecstatic to have Coach Capone join our football team at Chervers. The athletic director at Cheverus Amy Ashley said in a statement, “He is a legendary coach in Maine and brings with him an outstanding staff, with championships, deep ties to the football community, and head coach experience.”

Over the past 45 years, Capone has been a constant in Maine football, coaching Lewiston for 14 seasons and making stops at Bates on the collegiate level.

“I am honored and humbled to be Cheverus’ head football coach. Being a member of an organization with a rich and illustrious history makes me proud. We intend to carry on that custom. In whatever we do, we’re going to perform at a championship caliber. We will play at a championship level, from the administration, coaching staff, and our players,” Capone stated in the press release.
