Six bodies found murdered in the desert, five people arrested: Sheriff

Following the discovery of six bodies shot to death in a desert village in San Bernardino County, California, last week, authorities claim they have detained five suspects.

Authorities announced during a press briefing on Monday night that many search warrants in the investigation were executed on Sunday. Five individuals were taken into custody, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials. They were named as Toniel Baez-Duarte, Mateo Baez-Duarte, Jose Nicolas Hernandez Sarabia, Jose Gregorio Hernandez Sarabia, and Jose Manuel Burgos Parra.

Bail is not being requested for any of the suspects. According to officials, eight firearms were found during the arrests on Monday night.

Investigators suspect the victims had planned to meet for a marijuana sale, according to the results of their investigation, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s authorities. Authorities said on Monday night that it appears the victims were involved in illegal activity.

Officials said that four of the six bodies were burned after the victims were shot to death. Authorities have only named Baldemar Mondragon-Albarran, Franklin Noel Bonilla, and Kevin Dariel Bonilla as the victims.

According to an authority, the area has a significant problem with marijuana that is grown illegally.

Franklin Noel Bonilla called 911 on Tuesday night at 8:16 p.m. PT and reported that he had been shot, according to authorities on Monday. He could not give his exact location.

The call originated near the Adelanto, California, vicinity of Lessing Avenue and Shadow Mountain Road, according to information gathered by the authorities. When the sheriff’s team arrived, they discovered five dead. A short while later, Bonilla, the caller, was discovered dead close by.
Although local detectives are handling the case, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had given support to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in their investigation into the victims found in the desert some fifty miles outside of Los Angeles.

In the vicinity of where several of the dead were discovered, a blue Chevy SUV that was covered in bullet holes was also observed.
