Lawmakers in Georgia proposed a bill to prohibit RICO accusations

Thepipanews – On Wednesday, Georgia state lawmakers made a huge move when they introduced a bill to drop the state’s ongoing racketeering charges against former President Donald Trump.

Georgian lawmakers are acting to stop politically motivated prosecutions from happening in the future.

“Any court of this state exercising jurisdiction over such matter shall discharge and dismiss any pending prosecution under this chapter, where any part of the indictment or accusation alleges any violation contained within a paragraph of this subsection, and such prosecution shall be barred from being reindicted, reaccused, recommenced, or otherwise brought again in any court of this state,” the bill states.

In Georgia, the former president and several other defendants are presently being prosecuted for racketeering. They are being accused of attempting to revoke the 2020 election results.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been accused of having a romantic involvement with one of the prosecutors she assigned to the case, which has cast the case in doubt. Defendants contend that the impartiality of the proceedings is compromised by this purported conflict of interest.

Trump asserts that he thinks Willis’ accusations against him are driven by political considerations.
