Soon after the brutal shark attack in Sydney Harbor, there was a “horrible” fight between locals and a camerman while horrified onlookers screamed. One man almost fell into the shark-infested water.
After getting bit by a bull shark on Monday at Elizabeth Bay in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Lauren O’Neill, 29, had major surgery on Tuesday night to try to save her leg. She was rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital after people in the area heard her screams and came to help.
Soon after an ambulance took Ms. O’Neill away, police were called to the scene around 8:20pm because of reports of an attack.
According to witnesses, the fight started when a neighbor got into a fight with a reporter. Other people then joined in. It is said that the shooter was trying to catch blood in the water. Michael Porter, who lives in Elizabeth Bay, saw the fight and said it was “horrible.”

He said that during the fight, one man almost fell back into the bloody water that was full of sharks. “Oh no, we didn’t need that, everyone was screaming,” he said. Every neighbor had already been through it, and now that was on top of it. While everyone screamed that someone was going to be pushed back into the water, the shark was likely still looking around.
In a statement to news.com.au, NSW Police said that they were now looking into what happened before the fight. A report of an attack sent police to a home on Billyard Street in Elizabeth Bay just after 8:20 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, the statement said.
“When they got there, officers from King Cross Police Area Command talked to a man who was 31 years old.” Police were told that the man got into a fight with three other men, two aged 74 and 58, and one whose age was not known. No one was hurt in the fight, according to reports.
