After people who didn’t pay their tolls and fees racked up over $1.2 million, the MTA, the NYPD, the Port Authority Police, the New York City Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles carried out a two-day operation from April 29 to May 1.

At several locations, such as the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, the Robert F. Kennedy, Willis Avenue, Third Avenue, and George Washington Bridges, as well as the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels, cars were stopped for different violations, such as not paying tolls, driving unregistered vehicles, and driving while licenses were suspended.

According to the MTA, their Bridges and Tunnels operations seized 2,731 cars in 2023, which is 46.6% more than in 2022.
