North Texas city ranked second in U.S. for most remote workers

According to a study conducted in 2024 by financial technology company SmartAsset, it has been found that almost 40% of the working population in Frisco is engaged in remote work.

A recent study examined 344 cities in the United States with populations of 100,000 or more. The study focused on the percentage of workers aged 16 and older who worked remotely. To gather data, researchers utilized the U.S. Census Bureau’s 1-Year American Community Survey for 2022.

Frisco had a remote worker percentage of 39.7%, earning it the second spot in the country. The top spot went to Cary, North Carolina, with a percentage of 41.4%.

Allen ranked second on the list with a remote worker percentage of 33.2%. Austin, another Texas city, made it to the top 20 with a remote worker percentage of 31%.

According to a recent study, several cities in Texas, such as Beaumont, Odessa, Corpus Christi, and Midland, had some of the lowest rates of individuals working from home.

Beaumont and Odessa have a relatively low percentage of remote workers, with less than 3.8% of the workforce choosing to work remotely. Similarly, Corpus Christi and Midland also fall in the bottom 10, with 4.7% and 5.5% of workers opting for remote work, respectively.
