Study Finds North Carolina 2 Happiest Cities In The U.S.

Well, it turns out that the people who live in two of the state’s most famous cities are also some of the happiest in the country. Gallup and Healthways’ Community Well-Being Index was used by ALOT Travel to make a list of the 20 “happiest cities” in the U.S. The index “measures the opportunities cities provide for social and financial success, community integration, and life purpose for their residents.” Florida and Texas are very close behind California as the states with the most places on the list. However, two big cities in North Carolina also made the cut.

The study says that Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh are representative of the Triangle as a whole as some of the happiest cities in the country. Durham-Chapel Hill was praised for having a lot of people with college degrees, and Raleigh, which is also known as an education hub, was praised for its growing tech companies. This is what the page said:

“The community aspects of Durham and Chapel Hill come from their image as college towns.” The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is in Chapel Hill, which is likely why 73% of people who live there have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Duke University is in Durham. The university and the health system it runs are the biggest employers in Durham and one of the biggest private employers in North Carolina.

“In the past few years, the Raleigh-Cary city area has done a lot of great things. The area’s population has grown by 18% since 2010, mostly because it is an important part of the North Carolina Research Triangle. After the area got some of the best research universities and promoted them, a lot of standard tech and biotech companies, as well as financial institutions, moved there.
