A driver weaving slightly down a quiet road caught the attention of a police officer, who quickly pulled him over to investigate. As the officer approached the window, he immediately noticed the smell of alcohol and decided to conduct a series of sobriety tests before determining whether the man was fit to drive.
The driver struggled through the first few tests, swaying as he tried to keep his balance and stumbling over simple instructions. Convinced he had seen enough, the officer decided to have a little fun before making the arrest. Smiling, he said, “I’ll give you one last chance. If you can use the words green, pink, and yellow in one sentence, I’ll let you go.”
The driver stood silently for a few moments, scratching his head as if thinking harder than ever before. The officer folded his arms, certain there was no way the man could come up with a sentence that included all three words. Even the other officers nearby waited to hear what he would say.
Finally, the driver grinned and replied, “The phone went green, green, then I pink it up, and I said, ‘Yellow!'” For a second, the officer stared in disbelief before realizing the man had cleverly turned “pink” into “picked” and “yellow” into “hello.” Everyone nearby burst into laughter at the unexpected punchline.
The officer couldn’t help but laugh along with the others, admitting it was one of the funniest answers he had ever heard. Although the joke broke the tension, he still reminded the driver that drinking and driving is never something to take lightly before arranging for him to get home safely without getting back behind the wheel.
