A police officer pulled over a driver late one evening after noticing his car drifting across the road. When the officer approached the window, he suspected the man had been drinking and asked him to step outside. The driver agreed, insisting the entire time that he was perfectly capable of driving home.

The officer began putting him through a series of sobriety tests. He asked the man to walk in a straight line, stand on one leg, and follow instructions carefully. The driver struggled through each challenge but continued arguing that he was doing well enough to be allowed back behind the wheel.

Finally, the officer decided to give him one last test. “If you can pass this,” he said, “I’ll let you go. Use the words green, pink, and yellow together in one sentence.” The driver stood silently for several seconds, concentrating harder than he had during any of the previous tests.

Suddenly, his face lit up as though he had discovered the perfect answer. He looked directly at the officer and confidently said, “The phone goes green, green, green, so I pink it up and say yellow!” For a moment, the officer simply stared at him, trying to process what he had just heard.

Then the officer shook his head and reached for his handcuffs. The driver might have technically managed to squeeze all three words into one sentence, but his creative interpretation certainly didn’t help his case. Needless to say, he wasn’t driving himself home that night.
