A Guy From Maine Was Last Seen Almost a Year Ago, and His Body Was Found in New Hampshire

STARK, New Hampshire: State police recently found the body of a 34-year-old man who had been missing after arresting a suspect in his death.

Maine State Police say that Alex Jackson’s family reported him missing on May 14, 2023, because they hadn’t heard from him since May 12, 2023. Family members were said to have said it was “not like him” to act that way.

The Windham Police Department says Jackson was last seen pulling an empty gooseneck trailer in Leeds, Maine. His phone was turned off around 4:30 p.m. that same day, and his dog was found in North Yarmouth a few days later with a new collar on.

Several local police departments followed up on tips over the next 10 months and found that 30-year-old Joseph Chute was the main suspect. He was caught by police on March 29 and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail on a murder charge. He is still being held without bail.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Chute’s lawyer tried to get the charge dropped because the body of the victim hadn’t been found yet. His lawyer also told the news source that Chute reportedly told other people that he had something to do with the victim going missing, which made him a suspect.

In a new report, state police said that Jackson’s body was found in the Stark, New Hampshire, area on Friday, April 19, with help from the Windham Police Department, the Maine Warden Service, the New Hampshire State Police, and the New Hampshire Fish and Wildlife Department. However, the police did not say how or why Jackson died.
