Texas chicken farm engulfed for hours in massive fire

A large fire has consumed a chicken farm in Texas, completely destroying the chicken coop. Firefighters are currently working to put out the flames, and their efforts are ongoing as of Tuesday.

The Bryan Fire Department has released images of a fire that engulfed Feather Crest Chicken Farm, owned by MPS Egg Farms. The pictures reveal massive flames and a towering plume of smoke.

According to the sheriff’s office, a call was received on Monday evening at approximately 5 p.m. regarding a fire. It has been reported that multiple fire departments are still present at the scene as of Tuesday. Over 100 firefighters were still working to extinguish the blaze on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by authorities.

Firefighters faced numerous challenges as they battled the raging inferno that engulfed the metal buildings. Despite working tirelessly throughout the night, their efforts were hindered by a combination of factors. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by authorities.

A farm situated more than 100 miles north of Houston finds itself in a secluded region devoid of any fire hydrants. As a result, fire departments responding to emergencies have no choice but to depend on a water shuttle system.

According to Feather Crest Farms CEO Sam Krouse with Scripps News Waco, there were no injuries reported during the fire. Unfortunately, two chicken homes were lost in the blaze.

“Two chicken houses on the site were impacted by the fire, resulting in the unfortunate loss of chickens in one of the houses,” Krouse informed the local station with a somber tone.

“Our entire team acted swiftly and we are grateful that they are all safe.” The individual expressed gratitude for the prompt arrival of first responders at the farm, acknowledging their efforts in averting additional harm.
