How to Easily Remove Grease and Shine Up Sticky Kitchen Cabinets

For many, the kitchen isn’t just a room—it’s the heart of the home, filled with meals, memories, and daily life. Over time, however, kitchen cabinets can develop a sticky, greasy coating that simple wiping can’t remove. This buildup comes from cooking oils, dust, and everyday grime that settles on surfaces, especially near the stove, range hood, or cabinet handles. Fortunately, you don’t need expensive tools or professional cleaners to restore them.

Start with basic supplies like white vinegar, baking soda, mild dish soap, warm water, microfiber cloths, and a soft brush. Mix equal parts warm water and vinegar, adding a small squirt of dish soap if desired, and gently wipe down your cabinet surfaces. For stubborn areas, create a paste with baking soda and water, scrub lightly with a soft brush, and rinse with a damp cloth.

An alternative for tough grease is combining baking soda with a bit of vegetable oil, then wiping clean with the vinegar solution afterward. For cabinets with glass inserts, spray the cloth instead of the glass to prevent streaks. Weekly light cleaning and wiping handles can prevent future buildup, and using the range hood or splatter guards helps reduce grease accumulation.

Avoid heavy oil-based polishes that attract dust; instead, use a dry cloth or light beeswax polish. With consistent care and a simple, natural cleaning routine, you can remove years of grime and bring back your cabinets’ shine. A clean kitchen not only looks great but feels fresh, welcoming, and ready for family moments and daily life.
